Akua Forkuo-Sekyere

Akua Forkuo-Sekyere joined NAWC in 2023 and has been a staff member at the University YMCA since 2021. Akua is passionate about advancing equity, increasing access, supporting the overcoming of systemic barriers, and community partner partnerships. For the past 13 years, Akua has worked in mission oriented organizations focused on anti-violence and global maternal health. In her work, she led multi-sector teams to create statewide Sexual Assault Response Teams and an outpatient forensic clinic for survivors of assault. She aims to connect margin-to-center approaches with non-profit management to ensure that those at the center of the work are in spaces to provide solutions. Akua comes to the work with a Master's in Public Health from Washington University in St. Louis. When not at work, Akua enjoys spending time with her toddler and trying new recipes.
